    Lysine

Lysine – Specialty chemicals product from Bio Green Chem

    About This Product

Lysine is an essential amino acid, supplied for feed use as L-lysine monohydrochloride at 78 percent or as liquid and sulfate forms, produced by bacterial fermentation of a sugar substrate. It is a white to pale brown free-flowing powder. Its role in animal nutrition rests on the concept of the limiting amino acid. An animal builds protein to a fixed amino acid pattern, so the amino acid in shortest supply relative to that pattern caps how much of the rest can be used; everything above that point is deaminated and excreted as nitrogen. Cereal grains are low in lysine, so in maize and wheat-based diets for pigs and poultry lysine is limiting first. Without supplementation the only way to supply enough lysine is to raise total dietary protein, which is expensive, wastes the other amino acids and loads the environment with nitrogen from urine and manure. Adding crystalline lysine allows crude protein to be cut by several percentage points while performance is maintained or improved, reducing feed cost and nitrogen excretion together. It is also used in human nutrition and as a pharmaceutical intermediate. It is used in compound feed for pigs and poultry, aquaculture feed, low-protein diet formulation, human nutrition and pharmaceutical manufacture. Bio Green Chem supplies lysine to specification on assay, moisture, loss on drying, ash, particle size, heavy metals and microbiology.
