Tranexamic acid is a cyclic analogue of the amino acid lysine, CAS 1197-18-8. This cosmetic-grade white powder has a purity of 99%, determined by UV or HPLC, with residual solvent below 0.05% and limits for lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury. It keeps for 2 years and is packed in 1 kg foil bags or 25 kg drums. Formulators use it in leave-on skin care such as serums, essences, creams and masks. Tranexamic acid is freely soluble in water, so it normally goes into the aqueous phase.
