    Titanium Diboride (TiB2)

    About This Product

Titanium diboride (TiB2, CAS 12045-63-5), also called titanium boride, is a hexagonal compound of titanium and boron that pairs high hardness with metal-like electrical conductivity. The specification sets TiB2 at 98.5% minimum, titanium at 68.2% and boron at 30.8% minimum, with oxygen no more than 0.4%, carbon 0.15% and iron 0.1%. A main use is the conductive evaporation boat found in vacuum coating lines. Its hardness suits precision cutting tools, wire-drawing and extrusion dies, sandblasting nozzles and seals, and it is combined with TiC, TiN or SiC in composites for crucibles and other high-temperature parts. Molten aluminium wets it well, so it serves as a cathode coating in aluminium electrolysis cells; it also goes into PTC heating ceramics and strengthens aluminium, iron and copper alloys. Average particle size is made to the buyer's request, so state the size range you need when you enquire. Very fine, high-purity titanium diboride powders can fall within UK and EU dual-use export controls, and the size chosen may decide whether an export licence is needed. Settle the limits and the size, and request the safety data sheet, when you order.
