    Methyltin Maleate

Methyltin Maleate – Specialty chemicals product from Bio Green Chem

    About This Product

Methyltin maleate is produced by reacting maleic anhydride with methyltin oxide, and is supplied as a white powder. Unlike the mercaptide grades it is sulphur-free, so it carries none of the mercaptan odour that sulphur-based stabilisers can impart. The maleate ligand provides the HCl-scavenging function through its carboxylate groups while the residual unsaturation can add polyene sequences formed during degradation, interrupting the conjugation that produces colour. The result is good heat stability with weather endurance and excellent transparency, which is why it is specified for rigid clear products rather than for opaque profile. The supplier states plainly that the product is poisonous, strongly irritant and insoluble in water, and that it can be decomposed by heating. Beyond PVC stabilisation it is used in ABS engineering plastics and as a condensation catalyst. Supplied in iron or plastic drum, IBC tote or customised packaging.
