Methyltin Organic Acid

About This Product
DX-660 is a methyltin organic acid salt, a tin carboxylate supplied as a clear liquid. It belongs to the catalytic rather than the stabilising branch of organotin chemistry, and it is specified for what it accelerates, not for the colour it holds. Tin carboxylates are effective catalysts for the reaction between isocyanate and hydroxyl groups that builds polyurethane, and for the condensation cure of alkoxy- and acetoxy-functional silicones. The tin coordinates the reacting species and lowers the activation barrier, so the practical effect is a shorter gel and tack-free time at a given temperature, or an equivalent cure achieved at a lower one. In coatings that shows up as faster through-dry and better hardness development. Declared applications are as a rigid catalyst for bimolecular polyurethane coatings, polyester, nitro lacquer and printing ink, and as a drier or catalyst for polyurethane plastics, polyurethane coatings and silicone. Supplied in iron or plastic drum, IBC tote or customised packaging.
