MBS Impact Modifier

About This Product
MBS is a core-shell modifier: a rubbery polybutadiene-styrene core surrounded by a methyl methacrylate shell. The core absorbs impact energy by initiating and terminating crazes before they can grow into cracks; the shell makes the particle compatible with the PVC matrix so it disperses evenly and bonds to it. Its defining property is optical. The refractive index of the MBS particle is matched closely to that of PVC, so light passes through without scattering at the particle boundaries and the compound stays clear. Almost every other way of toughening PVC turns it opaque, which is why MBS dominates transparent packaging and why it costs more than CPE or acrylic alternatives. JX-LB-136 is Juxing's own grade, a white free-flowing powder supplied 20 kg per drum, 0.88 MT per pallet and 8.8 MT per 20-foot container, designed for high transparency PVC films and sheets with high impact resistance, good processability, reduced gelation time and less crease-whitening. The BTA, M, MB and B series grades are distributed lines supplied as 20 kg bagged powder for sheet and film.
