    Antimony Trioxide

    About This Product

Antimony trioxide, Sb2O3 (CAS 1309-64-4), is the oxide of trivalent antimony. The grade offered is a white powder with a purity of 99.8% and a melting point of 656 °C, supplied in 25 kg bags. In fire protection it works mainly as a synergist with halogenated flame retardants rather than on its own. It is used in the flame-retardant modification of polyester and acrylic fibres, in after-treatment of cotton and linen fabrics, in rubber conveyor belts, hoses and seals, and as a filler and flame retardant in fireproof coatings for steel structures and cables. Antimony trioxide is classified in the UK and EU as a suspected carcinogen; it is supplied for industrial and professional use with its safety data sheet, and dust exposure should be controlled. Store it in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place in sealed packs, apart from flammable materials, reducing agents and food additives. No particle size is stated for this grade; confirm it if a fine grade is needed.
