    Microbial Odour Remover

Microbial Odour Remover – Water treatment product from Bio Green Chem

    About This Product

Microbial odour remover is supplied as a liquid or powder containing selected non-pathogenic bacterial cultures, usually Bacillus species, together with nutrients, enzymes and a carrier. It is applied to drains, grease traps, sumps, lift stations and waste handling areas. It works by competition and digestion rather than by chemistry. Odour in a drain or sump comes from anaerobic breakdown of organic matter, which generates hydrogen sulphide, mercaptans, ammonia and volatile fatty acids. A masking agent covers those compounds with fragrance and a biocide kills everything indiscriminately, including the organisms doing useful work downstream. A bioaugmentation product instead introduces a large population of aerobic and facultative organisms that consume the fats, proteins and starches those odour compounds come from, so the substrate is removed and the anaerobic population is out-competed. The effect builds over days rather than acting instantly, and it requires that the environment supports the cultures, so it is incompatible with continuous biocide or strong disinfectant dosing in the same line. Dosing is continuous or regular rather than one-off. It is used in drains and grease traps, pumping stations and sumps, waste transfer and composting facilities, and in agricultural slurry handling. Bio Green Chem supplies microbial odour products to specification on colony forming units, species composition, enzyme activity, pH tolerance and shelf life.
