    Aluminium-Doped Zinc Oxide (AZO) Nanopowder

    About This Product

Aluminium-doped zinc oxide (AZO) is zinc oxide containing a small proportion of aluminium oxide, which makes it electrically conductive while leaving it transparent to visible light. This nanopowder (CAS 37275-76-6) has an average particle size of 20–40 nm, a BET surface area of 30–50 m²/g, a volume density of 0.81 g/cm³ and a pH of 6–7. Two compositions are listed, with ZnO:Al2O3 ratios of 99:1 and 98:2. Thin AZO films act as transparent electrodes in solar cells and in liquid crystal, electroluminescent and electrochromic displays. On architectural glass the oxide works as a heat mirror that limits heat loss through windows in cold climates, and as a resistive layer it warms vehicle, rail and aircraft glazing to keep it clear of mist and frost. It is also used to screen electromagnetic radiation in equipment rooms and radar areas, while films on flexible substrates open uses in flexible light-emitting devices, plastic displays and foldable solar cells. Confirm which of the two compositions is required, and agree the electrical resistivity and its test method in the specification, as no confirmed figure is published. Keep the powder dry, cool and sealed against air, without heavy loads on the packs. Nanoforms have to be covered by the REACH and UK REACH registrations under which they are imported, so check that coverage first. Zinc oxide, the main constituent, is classified as very toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects; request the SDS together with the quotation.
