Potassium Zinc Heat Stabiliser

About This Product
Potassium zinc stabilisers are a smaller branch of mixed-metal chemistry, used where the alkaline-earth metals cause problems. JZ-318F-2 is supplied as a liquid in 190 kg drums and is declared specifically for PVC wallpaper foam. Chemically blown PVC foam depends on a blowing agent, usually azodicarbonamide, decomposing to release gas within a narrow temperature window that must coincide with the point at which the melt has enough strength to hold cells but is still expandable. Metal soaps in the formulation act as kickers that shift the decomposition temperature of the blowing agent, and zinc is a particularly strong one. Potassium-zinc systems are formulated to give the stabilisation PVC needs while controlling that kicker effect so cell structure stays fine and even. In wallpaper, where the foam layer is thin and the surface finish is the product, uneven cells are immediately visible, which is why a dedicated grade exists rather than a general-purpose liquid.
