    Polyvinyl Butyral Resin (PVB)

    About This Product

Polyvinyl butyral (PVB, CAS 63148-65-2) is a polyvinyl acetal made by reacting polyvinyl alcohol with butyraldehyde, supplied as a white granular resin. It is chosen where a resin has to combine strong binding and adhesion to many surfaces with optical clarity, toughness and flexibility. As a binder it serves coatings, printing inks, textile printing and nonwovens, works as a co-binder in powder coatings and as a temporary binder in ceramics, and it is used in adhesives, pressure-sensitive adhesives and hot melts. The resin is also the raw material for PVB film, including the interlayer between the panes of laminated safety glass for vehicles and buildings. Only identity data are stated, so the grade specification (viscosity grade, butyral and hydroxyl content, residual acetate, volatiles and particle size) is confirmed on enquiry. PVB grades differ with the end use, so tell us whether the resin is for film, ink, coating or ceramic binder work. The normal pack is a 12.5 kg bag.
