High Elasticity Starch-Filled PP/PE Foaming Resin

About This Product
The resin is the high-elasticity grade of the starch-filled polyolefin foaming series: a powder compound holding the same 30 to 70 per cent native starch loading in a polypropylene and polyethylene matrix, formulated for compression set and rebound rather than for initial cushioning alone. Protective foam that is compressed in transit and expected to keep protecting on the next cycle needs recovery. Under load a cellular structure first deforms by elastic buckling of the cell walls against the gas held inside them, and it returns from that; permanent set begins when the walls yield plastically or rupture, at which point those cells no longer carry the same stress and the pack has quietly lost the protection it was specified for. This grade keeps deformation in the elastic regime over repeated cycles, which means a matrix that recovers and cell walls tough enough not to crack, since rigid starch stiffens a wall but can also embrittle it. Foam density, cell structure and the resulting cushioning curve are set against the drop height and load the packaging is designed for. This grade is bio-based but NOT biodegradable or compostable. The starch content sits in a polypropylene/polyethylene matrix, so it does not meet EN 13432, ASTM D6400 or BPI. It must not be described, labelled or marketed as biodegradable or compostable. It is used in resilient protective foam, returnable transit packaging, fragile goods cushioning and multi-trip transport packaging. Bio Green Chem supplies the high elasticity starch-filled foaming resin to specification on starch loading, foam density, cell structure and the drop height and static load being designed for, as a raw material for processing on the buyer's own line; we do not produce finished articles.
