Flat Yarn and Woven Fabric Compound is a PLA/PBAT blend supplied as a pellet compound for flat yarn extrusion and weaving. PLA contributes stiffness and tensile strength and PBAT contributes elongation and toughness, so the ratio between them sets where the tape sits between a stiff, strong yarn and a forgiving one that tolerates handling on the loom. Woven polypropylene sacks and ground cover are durable and cheap, and they persist for decades where they are left. Agricultural and horticultural ground cover in particular is rarely fully recovered. This compound extrudes into flat yarn for weaving into fabric with a defined service life in a biodegradable system. The tape is extruded as film, slit to width and drawn hot, and it is the drawing that counts: orienting the chains along the tape axis is where tenacity comes from, not the resin alone. Draw ratio is bounded at both ends, since too little leaves the tape weak and too much makes it fibrillate and split lengthways. Tape tenacity and the woven fabric's strength are specified against the end use. Supplied as a raw material for processing on the buyer's own line. We do not produce finished articles. It is used in woven sacks, in ground cover fabric and in agricultural textiles.
