About This Product
This super absorbent polymer is a cross-linked sodium polyacrylate (CAS 9003-04-7). Acrylic acid is neutralised, polymerised and cross-linked, and the gel is dried, crushed and granulated into a white granular powder. Its three-dimensional network draws water in by osmotic pressure and capillary action and holds it without releasing it readily under pressure. It goes into the absorbent cores of baby and adult nappies and of sanitary towels and pads, and into composite absorbent paper. The level of cross-linking agent sets the balance between absorption rate and gel strength, so the grade is chosen for the product it will be used in. No specification values are stated, so centrifuge retention capacity, absorbency under load, particle size distribution, moisture, residual monomer and pH are confirmed on enquiry. Confirm that the grade offered is sodium polyacrylate rather than a polyacrylamide-based absorbent, and agree the pack: 750 kg woven bulk bags with a plastic liner and 20 kg kraft-paper and plastic sacks with a polyethylene inner bag are described.
