    Sodium Bisulfate

Sodium Bisulfate – Sulfates & sulfites product from Bio Green Chem

    About This Product

Sodium bisulfate, sodium hydrogen sulfate, has the formula NaHSO4 and CAS number 7681-38-1, supplied as white granules, beads or powder. It is produced by partially neutralising sulphuric acid, so it retains one acidic proton per molecule. The value of the material is entirely in its physical form. Sulphuric acid does the same job chemically but is a corrosive liquid requiring bunded storage, acid-resistant pumps, specialist transport and trained handling, and a spill is a serious incident. Sodium bisulfate delivers comparable acidity as a dry, free-flowing, non-fuming solid that can be shipped in sacks, stored on a shelf and dosed by hand or by screw feeder. A spill is swept up. For that reason it has displaced liquid acid in swimming pool pH correction, in domestic and institutional cleaning products, and in many small-scale industrial pH adjustments where the volumes do not justify bulk acid infrastructure. It is still corrosive in use, and the solution it forms is genuinely strong acid, but the hazard is confined to the point of use rather than the whole supply chain. It is used in swimming pool and spa pH control, toilet and hard-surface cleaners, metal finishing, animal feed acidification and in leather processing. Bio Green Chem supplies sodium bisulfate to specification on assay, free sulphuric acid, moisture, insolubles, iron and heavy metals.
