    Sodium Alpha-Olefin Sulfonate (AOS)

    About This Product

AOS is the sodium salt of sulfonated alpha-olefins, registered under CAS 68439-57-6, and combines high foaming ability with good resistance to hard water. The powder carries at least 92% active matter with water ≤3.0%, inorganic salts ≤5.0% and pH 9.5–11.5 in 1% solution. The liquid carries 35.0 ± 1% active, with inorganic salts ≤1.5% and colour ≤60 Hazen measured at 5% active. In laundry powders, dishwashing liquids and soap-based products it is a main raw material for phosphorus-free formulas. In shampoos, bath foams and foaming cleansers it acts as a foaming surfactant, while industries such as paper making and building materials use it as a foaming agent and detergent raw material. The two forms are specified on different parameters, water, pH and whiteness for the powder and Hazen colour for the liquid, so state the form and agree the limits that apply. For shampoos and other cosmetic products, check that the chosen grade, its impurity profile and its documentation suit the intended product and market. Request the SDS and a batch analysis certificate when asking for a quotation.
