    Osmanthus Botanical Extract

Osmanthus Botanical Extract – Cosmetic & Personal Care product from Bio Green Chem

    About This Product

Osmanthus botanical extract is prepared from the small golden flowers of Osmanthus fragrans, cultivated principally around Guilin in southern China. The flowers are extracted and the material standardised and carried in glycerine, glycol or a light ester so that it can be dosed directly into a formulation. Osmanthus is among the most costly raw materials in natural perfumery because the flowers are tiny, the harvest window is short and the yield is very low. The extract is a dilute, formulation-ready preparation rather than the concentrated absolute used by perfumers or the floral wax recovered as a by-product of producing that absolute. It carries the plant's solvent-soluble constituents, including flavonoids, phenolics and the ionone-type compounds responsible for its distinctive scent, described as ripe apricot with tea and soft leather notes. In skin care it is used both for that sensory signature and for its antioxidant-associated phenolic content. Typical use is 0.1 to 5 percent, added to the water phase during cool-down, and availability follows the autumn harvest. It is used in facial skin care and serums, masks, hair and scalp products, natural fragrance work and in premium botanical ranges. Bio Green Chem supplies osmanthus extract to specification on carrier and active ratio, appearance, odour, pH, solubility, preservative system and microbiology.
