    Methyl Tin Laurate

Methyl Tin Laurate – Specialty chemicals product from Bio Green Chem

    About This Product

Methyl tin laurate is the methyltin analogue of the far better known dibutyltin dilaurate, supplied here as a white emulsion rather than a clear liquid. Its ligand is lauric acid, a C12 saturated fatty acid. Its significance is regulatory as much as technical. Dibutyltin dilaurate is the default condensation catalyst for room-temperature-vulcanising silicone and for polyurethane, but dibutyltin compounds carry reproductive-toxicity classification and face restriction in consumer-facing articles. A methyltin catalyst that performs the same coordination chemistry offers formulators a route away from butyltin without redesigning the cure system, and the supplier states directly that by application and development it will substitute for acid butyl tin laurate. Declared applications are silicone sealant organic tin catalyst, polyurethane organic tin catalyst and silicone finishing additives for the textile industry. Supplied in iron or plastic drum or customised packaging.
