Films and bags used in clinical settings can carry organisms on their surface between handling steps. An antimicrobial modification in the polymer reduces surface colonisation rather than relying on cleaning alone. Supplied as a medical grade raw material for film and bag production. Antimicrobial efficacy must be established on the finished article against the relevant test method and the organisms of concern. Manufacturing a medical device from this compound requires the manufacturer's own regulatory approvals, including an appropriate quality system such as ISO 13485.
