Tetrabutyl Tin (TBT)

About This Product
Tetrabutyl tin, CAS 1461-25-2, is a transparent liquid in which all four positions on the tin are occupied by butyl groups. With no halide or oxide function it is unreactive compared with the chlorides and oxides derived from it. Its main role is as a starting material. Controlled redistribution of tetrabutyltin with tin tetrachloride produces the mono-, di- and tributyltin chlorides, and from those the whole butyltin series of heat stabilisers, catalysts and other derivatives is manufactured. It also has direct use as a catalyst for the polymerisation of olefin compounds. Packed as transparent liquid in plastic drums at 200 kg each, 16,000 kg per 20-foot container.
