    Molybdenum Trioxide (MoO3)

    About This Product

Molybdenum trioxide (MoO3, CAS 1313-27-5, molecular weight 143.94) is the starting point for molybdenum metal and high-purity molybdenum compounds. This grade is a light grey powder of which 100% passes 40 mesh, with MoO3 at 99.80% and molybdenum at 66.60% minimum. Trace elements are limited one by one, from 0.0300% for potassium and tungsten down to 0.0010% for phosphorus. In petroleum refining it goes into catalysts for separation and refining, and plastics compounders use it as a flame retardant. It is also smelted to metallic molybdenum and is the base material for molybdenum salts and other high-purity molybdenum compounds. Molybdenum trioxide has a harmonised classification under UK and EU CLP as suspected of causing cancer, as an eye irritant and as a cause of respiratory irritation; the safety data sheet gives the handling controls required. This is a coarse 40 mesh powder rather than an ultrafine grade. Confirm the appearance, particle size and impurity limits against your process before ordering.
