About This Product
Alkyl ethoxy polyglucoside (AEG), named alkyl ethoxy polyglycoside on the data sheets, is produced by acetalising lauryl alcohol ethoxylate (AEO-3 or AEO-4) with anhydrous glucose, so a glucoside head group sits on an ethoxylated fatty chain. The content grades are colourless to light yellow liquids at ≥30.0%, ≥40.0% or ≥50.0%, with pH 6–12 in 10% solution, ash ≤3% and free alcohol ≤0.3%. A separate 50% solids grade is a transparent liquid tested to QB/T 5479-2020, with residual alcohol ≤1.0% on solids and colour ≤300 APHA Hazen. Formulators use AEG in laundry and dishwashing detergents, shampoos and body washes, and household and industrial hard-surface cleaners, where it adds cleaning power, foam stability and a thickening response. It mixes with anionic, cationic, non-ionic and amphoteric surfactants, dissolves well in cold water and tolerates hard water, and also finds use in textile wetting, emulsion systems and oilfield chemicals. Choose the grade by active content and by the alcohol limit that matters: the content grades are limited on free alcohol, the solids grade on residual alcohol measured on solids. Keep it out of strongly acidic systems above 80 °C, and warm and mix it if it solidifies in cold storage. Neither data sheet gives a CAS number, so confirm the substance identity, CAS number and registration position from the safety data sheet before supply.
