Loose fill is the clearest case for producing at the point of use: it is almost entirely air, so shipping it finished is expensive relative to its value. A compact foaming line lets a packer make it where it is used. The line uses a 65mm twin screw with a 30 kW main motor and three heating zones, at 35-50 kg/hr. It is considerably smaller than the sheet line at roughly 3600 x 1360 x 860 mm and 3 tonnes, so it fits within an existing packing operation. It runs both the water-soluble and hydrophobic loose fill compounds listed in this category, so one line covers both dry and humid shipping conditions. The line is patented.
